LOU'S RECKONING

Every single person that Lou ever dicked over in his life showed up at his house today. Ex-girlfriends, ex-wives, old roommates, that lobster boy he made fun of that one time, bosses he’d skipped out on without giving two-weeks notice, every bum he ever refused to give change to, waitresses that he hadn’t tipped, the kid in elementary school he called ‘gay.’ All of those people showed up at Lou’s, looking for payback. Their numbers took up his yard, his driveway, the entire street in front of house and his neighbor’s yard across the street.

They’d rung the doorbell three times and they were getting anxious. An eerie lull was in the air. None of them spoke or conversed at all while they stood there. In fact, none of them had even been in touch with each other or known of the other’s existence until today. This had not been orchestrated. They all just happened to show up on this day at exactly this time, all looking to give this one man his just desserts.

Lou knew they were coming somehow. He knew this was that day. But he never answered the door.
