Fresh Start

He sat upon a small dusty stool tinkering over a pile of gears, cogs, springs, coils and wires. His watch repair business had slowed considerably with the invention of the digital watch. He didn’t care. A true connoisseur would always return to a wind able watch. His eyes weren’t getting any better, and these cogs and gears were so small. His optometrist had upped his prescription the previous week for the third time this year. His son kept saying that it was time for something new, a fresh start. Retire his son said.

He put down his tools, and thought about retirement. Sitting on the beach with nothing to do. Not a bad way to go he thought, as his heart stopped, and he slumped over on his work bench.
