LOSING DeQ

Hank had never been much of a public speaker.  He was an “idea man,” if anything.  His world comprised of that initial spark and the hope that the money men would come running once they’d hear of it.  After numerous failures, someone had invested in an idea of his and it hit big.  He lived large on his fortune, but was always that quiet, geeky dreamer, unable to say more than a few words at board meetings.  As it has been said, he was never very good at speeches.

But now, in front of his stock holders and major investors, he feels a new-found courage which culminates in a speech like none of them have ever heard.  Behind his voice is confidence, assuredness and a bold sense of passion.  He speaks fast and furious, the syllables dancing on his tongue, leaving the audience amazed and intrigued.  Each word more potent than the last.

Sadly, Hank is speaking in Klingon and by night’s end, every stock holder, believing Hank to be out of his mind, would pull out, leaving Hank the poor, geeky dreamer he started out as.
